LAMY 2000 bog oak – 60th Anniversary Edition
Limited edition of 1,966 numbered pieces
In 1966, the hooded nib was still a technical solution. It served to protect the tip and write with force at a time when every document was carbon-copied. Gerd A. Müller, called by Manfred Lamy to design a pen projected toward the year 2000, made it something else: a choice of form. In the LAMY 2000, the line runs uninterrupted from the end to the paper, and the nib is not an added element but the point where that line ends.
Sixty years later, Lamy celebrates that design with a material that measures time in centuries. Bog oak is oak that has remained for hundreds of years under peat and water, where it has taken on its dark and deep color. Stabilized and crafted, it forms the central section of the pen, between the brushed steel of the body and the cap. The grain never repeats: none of the 1,966 pens is the same as another.
The number of the limited edition is not random: it is the year when it all began. Owning one of these pens means possessing a numbered specimen of a design that has never been changed, and a piece of wood that existed centuries before the pen itself.
